Wushu Trials Begin in Srinagar

The three-day Wushu Selection Trials for the Upcoming 20th Asian Games, SET to take place in Japan in 2026, commenced on Friday at the sher-e-e-kashmir indoor sports Complex in Srinagar, JAMMU and Kashmir.

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, officially open the Event, Praising the Wushu Association of India (Wai) for India (Wai) for his Thorough Planning and Deedication to Meeting to Meeting to Meeting to Meeting to Meeting to Meeting to Meeting to meet Games, as noted in a wai release.

Approximately 200 Athletes from Various Parts of the Country are competing in the Sanda (Combat) Segment of the Trials. The taolu (routine) selection trials are scheduled to take place in imphal from august 25 to 27.

According to the selection guidelines, the Wai’s Technical Committee will select eight athletes Across Seven Categories (five men and two women). Ranking tournaments will be help every two months leads up to June 2026, which is the final entry deadline. The Final Squad for the Asian Games will be determined based on Athletes’ Performances in Ranking Tournaments, National Coaching Camps, and International Training and Competitions.

She Emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an Excellent Location for Martial Arts Training, Especially Wushu, and Advocated for the Establishment of a high-Peermance Center for Wushu in the Araya. The inauguration Ceremony was attended by Notable Guests, Including Anand Jain, IPS (Adgp Armed JK) as Guest of Honor, Nuzhat Gul (Secretary, JK Sports COUNCIL) as GUST of Honor, Vijay Saraf (General Secretary, Wai), Suhel Ahmed (CEO, WAI), and Kuldeep Handoo (National Chief Coach and Dronacharya Awarde).

The weight-in and draw of lots took place on Friday morning, with the bouts set to begin the following day and continue for two days.

The Selection Committee for the Trials Includes Kuldeep Handoo (National Chief Coach, Dronacharya Awarde), Sopan Shankar Katke (International Judge), Sandeep Goswami (International Judge), amit goswami (International Player), Along With Other Technical Officials from the Wushu Association of India.
