Strengthening rural connectivity in odisha

On Friday, Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Urged The Rural Development Department to Take Decisive Measures Measures Against Contractors and Officials Involved In the POR Quality of ROAD and Offer Konstuity of ROAD and RODGEGEGEGEGEGE in rural area.

This Directive Came during a high-level meeting at loka seva bhavan in Bhubaneswar, where the Chief Minister reviewed various departmental initiatives.

Majhi highlighted the department’s crucial role in ensuring that all villages in the state are connected by all -weather roads through the construction of roads and bridges.

He set an ambitious target of building 30,000 kilometers of roads and 500 bridges over the next five years.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of utilizing all available funds from different schemes and budgets to enhance transportation infrastructure for the people of Odisha.

He also emphasized the need for maintaining high standards in the quality of roads and bridges.

Majhi Instructed The Department to take action against any contractors or officials who fail to meet these standards.

He further recommended that special focus be placed on Constructing high-quality roads in hilly regions to improve access for local communities.

Additional, he suggested implementing training programs to enhance the skills of contractors involved in construction projects.

During the meeting, it was noted that odisha ranks fourth in the nation for constructing rural roads, having complete 70,711.24 kilometers out of the 73,984.88 kilometers app Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

The first three phases of the PMGSY WORE COMPLETED ACCORDILINES, and the fourth phase is now underway.

This phase will focus on building roads and bridges in Tribal Areas, Aspirational Blocks, and Regions Affected by Left- WING Extremism, with plans for 942 roads and 8 bridges in 1,021 UNCONNECONNECTED Habitations.

Under the PM Jannman Yojana, 66 roads and 4 bridges have been approved for construction in 73 villages, Aiming to connect over 100 particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (Pvtg) Habitiations.

In the fiscal year 2024–25, the Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana Initiative Saw The Construction of 4,500.30 Kilometers of Roads, with a target of 5,000 kilometers and an estrated Budget of RS 3,469.949.949.9.94 Crore for 2025–26 Financial Year.

Moreover, The Setu Bandhan Yojana Scheme Successful Built 186 Bridges in 2024–25, with plans to construct an additional 300 bridges in the upcoming finance Financial Year.

The Rural Development Department is also focused on Developing Infrastructure in Rural Areas, Including School Hostels, College Buildings, Government Offices, Cyclone and Flood Shelters, and Kalyan Mandaps.

In the fiscal year 2024–25, the department completes 451 Construction Projects and AIMS to Finish 1,229 projects in the 2025–26 Financial Year.
