Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) and Dwarka Expressway developed as the new ring road in the capital Delhi have been built. They will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today from Rohini in Delhi on 17 August. Gurugram will get the biggest benefit of starting both these expressways. In Gurugram, Dwarka Expressway will be able to reach the airport terminal-3 in less than 10 minutes. Apart from this, Sonipat and NH 44 will be able to reach the Delhi Panipat highway in less than an hour by UER-2.

The biggest benefit of these two expressways will be to Gurugram, where it will take less than 10 minutes to reach the airport terminal-3 from Dwarka Expressway. Along with this, Sonipat and NH 44 Delhi Panipat highway can be reached through UER-2 in less than an hour.

Both projects will solve the problem of traffic jam in the National Capital Region (NCR) and will improve regional connectivity. The Dwarka Expressway, which has been developed under the Bharatmala Project, is the country’s first 8-lane elevated urban Expressway. Its total length is 29 km, out of which 18.9 km is located in Haryana and 10.1 km Delhi. The total cost of this project is around Rs 9,000 crore. The expressway starts from Shiva Murthy in Mahipalpur, Delhi and goes to the Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurugram, which will help in reducing traffic pressure on National Highway-48 (NH-48).

The need for new ring road in Delhi was being felt for a long time. In this context, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the construction of UER-2 three years ago, as well as stated that it would be started in 2025. Now, according to this announcement, it is being started this year.

Distance from Delhi to Gurugram 20 minutes

With the inauguration of Dwarka Expressway, travel time between Delhi and Gurugram will be only 20-25 minutes. This expressway will be helpful in directing more than 35 sectors of Gurugram and more than 50 villages.

Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2) is considered to be the third ring road of Delhi, which is 75.71 km in length and its total cost is Rs 7,716 crore. This project started near Delhi Panipat highway number 44 near Alipur and spread to Sector 24 of Dwarka via Nangloi-Najafgarh Road. UER-2 establishes direct contact with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, connecting the Delhi-Rohtak Highway, Sonepat-Ghana Highway and Gurugram-Sohana Highway.
